Bananas Over the Banana Powder yet?

If you haven’t heard of Ben Nye’s Luxury Powders yet (formerly Visage Poudre luxury powder), then it’s time you did. The worldwide supplies of these powders are running low. THAT’S how famous it has become!

All the credit goes to Kim Kardashian’s make-up artist Mario Dedivanovic, who uses it to highlight her under-eye area, forehead et al. Ben Nye is a make-up brand used by professionals in theater. It is one of THE best setting powders out there. Atleast that’s what I think and almost every woman using it!!

What Ben Nye says about the product:

Formerly known as Visage Poudre Luxury Powders, these ultra-neutral powders provide superior matte and subtle finishing. Often compared to French powders with silky-fine textures. the Ben Nye Bella line of powders are translucent with just a hint of color.

The moment I got to know about it (thanks to my BFF Gurleen), I knew I had to have it. They come in different sizes and shades and the one that I got is in shade ‘Banana’ in 3 oz/85 grams. There are other hues to choose from but this one shade ‘Banana’ works well with almost all the skin tones.

It’s a translucent powder used for setting make-up and controlling shine. It’s nearly identical to most high end brands and smooths on to the skin absolutely beautifully. The overall quality and the texture is exceptional. It controls the shine on your face giving it a matty-fied look which looks absolutely gorgeous.

You can set this powder on your face with a brush, sponge or a beauty blender. It really doesn’t matter. Whether you use it on your entire face or just the highlighting areas, it WILL last you a long long time.

The only two negatives with it is are – one,Β  it comes with a sifter jar – it has little holes in it and you have to sift the powder out to use it, which can be messy every time and also because you loose some product every time you use it. And two, it doesn’t come sealed. If you’re looking for a nice packaging, you probably aren’t going to be satisfied there because the jars may not be as fancy as you would have wanted them to be. You can only wish they made it a little bit more user-friendly but I guess we could care less about the packaging when the product happens to be so so good, right?

In case you don’t want to read allll that I wrote, here’s a list of pros and cons:

  • Inexpensive with a huge quanity (Quantity and quality together)
  • Gives a smooth, silky texture to the skin
  • Does not get cakey
  • Minimizes imperfections
  • Good oil control
  • Suits all skin types
  • Different colors to choose from
  • Comes in different sizes
  • WORTH IT!!

  • The perforated top lets the product escape
  • A not-so-fancy packaging

Price : I paid Rs 1213 for 85 grams

Where I got it from:

Rating: 4.8/5.0

Would I purchase it again? : YES

Would I recommend it: ABSOLUTELY.

I guess it goes without saying that Moderation is the key. You put too much of it on your face, it WILL make you look ghastly. Just like any other product would. So keep it simple and don’t get carried away! All in all, I’d say it is WORTH the hype and WORTH the money you invest in it.
